Apart from seeding iOS 5.0.1 firmware to developers, Apple has also seeded iTunes 10.5.1 beta 2. You can download iTunes 10.5.1 beta 2 for Windows and Mac from the links provided down below.
As usual, the latest iTunes 10.5.1 beta 2 is now available for developers only at the moment and it comes with slew of important stability and performance improvements. Apart from these conventional updates, iTunes Match is also now available for testing on Apple TV.
What is iTunes Match? Its part of the services Apple offers that collectively make up iCloud. Basically, iTunes Match stores your music library in iCloud and allows you to enjoy your collection from anywhere, any time, on your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, computer and now your Apple TV as well. To turn on iTunes Match on your Apple TV, choose Music > Turn on iTunes Match. Do keep in mind that you shouldn't delete the music you add to iCloud library from your computer.
As opposed to other music streaming services, iTunes Match has one major upside. You don't have to manually upload all your music to the cloud. iTunes Match will simply scan your music library and match the songs with the endless collection of iTunes Music Store. If any particular song in your library has no match in the above 20 million tracks of iTunes Music Store, you are always at liberty to manually upload it.
Apart from the major upside, there's also a major downside. As they say, there's no such thing as a free lunch. iTunes Match will cost you $24.99 per annum for matching and streaming services. The cost can be considered minimal for the features offered by iTunes Match. It not only makes your music available everywhere, but it also provides you these tracks in high quality 256kbps AAC without DRM protection, regardless of the bitrate in your local iTunes music library.
Apple has only seeded iTunes 10.5.1 beta 2 to developers, meaning that you need to have a developer account with Apple in order to download iTunes 10.5.1 beta 2.
