Download iOS 5 Firmware For iPhone, iPad and iPod touch

Finally, we can now download iOS 5 firmware for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. After being in beta for over four months, Apple has released iOS 5 to the public. What are you waiting for, get downloading! Direct lnks given below.

iOS 5 is Apple's most extensive update to its mobile platform till date. With over 200 new features including but not limited to Notification Center and iMessages. There's a new Reminders app in iOS 5 that will take care of all your to-do lists perfectly. Honestly, the feature list is so extensive that it is almost impossible to put that in one post. Earlier today, as promised, iCloud was released to the public. Now that you can download iOS 5 firmware, you'll be able to use the amazing iCloud service, part of which is that Find My Friends social network for iOS 5 that was released a couple of hours back.

iOS 5 is compatible with the following devices:

  • iPhone 4S
  • iPhone 4
  • iPhone 3GS
  • iPad 1
  • iPad 2
  • iPod touch 3G
  • iPod touch 4G

To make sure that you can easily upgrade your supported devices to iOS 5, yesterday Apple released iTunes 10.5 final for Windows and Mac. If you haven't downloaded that as yet, do it right now and install iTunes 10.5 final on your computer so that you are able to not only update your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch to iOS 5, but sync it as well because all previous version of iTunes will not be able to sync with iOS 5 running on your device.

In order to install iOS 5 firmware on your device, connect your device to the computer and launch iTunes. Clicking on the Update button will automatically begin downloading iOS 5 firmware for your particular device. If you want to install it manually, simply download the IPSWs from the official direct download links given below and then after you have connected your device to iTunes, simply press and hold the Shift key on Windows or the alt key on Mac and click on Restore. Select the iOS 5 IPSW that you previously downloaded for your device and open it. iTunes will now begin restoring your device to iOS 5 firmware.
